Andromachus of Cyprus

Andromachus († 332 BC ) was a governor of Alexander the Great.

He may have been identical with that Andromachus, the 332 BC as nauarchos commanded the Cypriot fleet at the blockade of the northern harbor at the siege of Tyre. That same year, he took on the instructions of Alexander of Parmenion the office of the governor of Coele-Syria ( "lower Syria," today Israel and Palestine ). After Alexander had moved to Egypt, there was an uprising of the people of Samaria, was killed in the Andromachus; he was burnt alive.

Alexander struck in the spring of 331 BC the rebellion and appointed a certain " Memnon " the new satrap of Coelesyria, such that it would have probably traded by Menon, who already in the " upper Syria," reigned.
