Andrzej Alojzy Ankwicz

Andreas Alois Ankwicz of Skarbek - Poslawice (also: Andreas Alois Skarbek Ankvicz of Poslavice; Polish: Andrzej Alojzy Ankwicz; Czech Ondřej Alois Ankwicz ze Skarbek - Poslawice; born June 22, 1777 Krakow, † March 26, 1838 ) was Archbishop of Lviv and Prague.

Life

Andreas Alois Ankwicz studied in Krakow and Vienna, and was dedicated on September 2, 1810 as a priest. After that, he was a canon in Olomouc, where he was appointed rector of the seminary and the theological faculty.

On March 25, 1815 Andreas Alois Ankwicz was nominated Archbishop of Lvov and consecrated on 15 August of the same year by the Olomouc archbishop Maria Thaddaeus of Trautmannsdorff. He supported the policy of the Habsburgs and was appointed by Emperor Franz II as Primate of Galicia in 1827.
