Andrzej Dobrowolski

Andrzej Dobrowolski ( born September 9, 1921 in Lviv, † August 8, 1990 in Graz) was a Polish composer and music educator.

Dobrowolski studied during the German occupation at the Warsaw Conservatory organ with Bronisław Rutkowski, clarinet with Ludwik Kurkiewicz and singing with Stefan Belina - Skupowski, 1945-1951 at the Academy of Music in Krakow at Stefania Łobaczewska music theory and composition with Artur Malawski. In addition, he taught from 1947 to 1954 Music Theory at the State Music High School and the State Academy of Music in Krakow.

From 1954 until he taught music theory at the Musikhochschule in Warsaw, where he also taught composition since 1964. In 1976 he became a full professor of composition and electronic music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, 1979 Dean of the Faculty of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory.

He was also next to musicians such as Włodzimierz Kotonski, Zbigniew Wiszniewski Bogusław Schaeffer and the Experimental Studio of the Polish Radio Orchestra, which was founded in 1958 as one of the first employees worldwide. For his life's work, he was awarded in 1971 by the Polish Ministry of Culture and in 1972 by the Polish Composers' Union. In 1990 he was awarded the Johann Joseph Fux Music Prize of the State Government of Styria.
