Andy Burnham

Andrew Burnham ( born January 7, 1970 in Liverpool) is a British Labour Party politician and was from June 2009 to May 2010 Health Minister in the cabinet of Gordon Brown.

Life

After his schooling in Culcheth, Warrington, at the St Catherines School Burnham went to the St Aeldred High School in Newton- le- Willows. He then studied English at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, and reached a master. With 14 years of Burnham was a member of the Labour Party during the miners' strike. Since 2001 he has been for the Leigh constituency as an MP for the Labour Party in the British House of Commons. In June 2007, he was appointed Chief Secretary to the Treasury; a position he held until 2008.

Burnham married in 2000 Marie -France van Heel. The couple has a son.
