Andy Delmore

Andy Delmore ( born December 26, 1976 in LaSalle, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played for during his career, among other things for the Philadelphia Flyers, Nashville Predators and Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. Since his career end in July 2013 he is assistant coach of the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League.

Playing career

The 1.85 m tall defender started his career with the North Bay Centennials and the Sarnia Sting in the Canadian Junior Football League OHL before he was hired in 1997 as ungedrafteter free agent by the Philadelphia Flyers.

His first NHL inserts for the Flyers completed the right shooter in the 1998/99 season, but most of the time he arrived at the Philadelphia Phantoms, the AHL farm team the Flyers, are used. Towards the end of his time in Philadelphia Delmore was first-team regular, he retained this status in his next engagement at the Nashville Predators. Another NHL station Delmores were the Buffalo Sabres, who transferred him to the Boston Bruins on March 9, 2004. This in turn exchanged Delmore on the same day along with Curtis Brown against Jeff Jillson and a ninth- round draft pick to the San Jose Sharks, where he also did not play because of the lockout in 2004/05.

During the lockout the Canadians played for Adler Mannheim in the DEL. For the season 2005/ 06 Delmore signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings, but even here the defensive man was not used and was transferred in October to the Columbus Blue Jackets, who used it most of the time at the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL. 2005/ 06 Andy Delmore was awarded the Eddie Shore Award as the best defender of the AHL. In the AHL season 2006/ 07, the Canadians played for both the Springfield Falcons and for the Chicago Wolves, belonging to the organization of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

For the season 2007/ 08 Delmore returned to Germany and he signed a two -year contract with the Hamburg Freezers. After two years he returned to North America and signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings, the farm team, the Grand Rapids Griffins, put him. In March 2010, the Red Wings gave his rights to the Calgary Flames and Delmore played the season with the Abbotsford Heat to an end.
