Andy Mate

Andrew "Andy" Mate, in Germany as Andreas Máté known ( born March 19, 1940 in Budapest, Hungary András Máte; † 13, 2012 in Hungary), was a former American football player of Hungarian origin.

In the wake of the Hungarian uprising of 1956 Mate, players fled in Újpest Budapest, from his native land to the United States, where he joined New York Hungaria. 1962 won Mate with the Hungarians, the German American Soccer League and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, in its final he scored two of the three goals; in September 1962 belonged to the midfielder an All-Star team that played eighteen games against clubs and national teams in the Middle East.
