Andy Partridge

Andrew John Partridge ( born November 11, 1953 in Valletta, Malta) is an English songwriter, guitarist, producer and label boss. Partridge wrote most of the songs his band XTC. He lives in Swindon, Wiltshire.

Partridge was born in Malta, but grew up in Swindon, where he has lived ever since.

His pathological stage fright, stress and a nervous breakdown meant that XTC no longer go on tour since 1982. He subsequently developed an ever greater interest in detailed studio work and was also responsible for the visual side of XTC. In addition to his work with XTC Partridge has released its demo recordings under the series title fuzzy Warbles in the previous six editions. As a producer or songwriter, he worked among others with The Lilac Time, Thomas Dolby, Stephen Duffy, Joan Armatrading, David Yazbek, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Terry Hall, Cathy Dennis and Harold Budd. In addition, he translated for Herbert Grönemeyer lyrics for the English edition of the album Chaos into English.
