Andy White (drummer)

Andy White ( born 1930 in Glasgow, Scotland ) is a British drummer, best known by only a single recording with the Beatles.

Born in 1930 as the son of a baker, White began as a twelve- year-old playing the drums. In the 1950s he played in various swing and jazz bands.

His most famous recording is the single Love Me Do The Beatles, on which he played on September 11, 1962 instead of Ringo Starr as the Beatles producer George Martin was not satisfied with the drummer Pete Best and Ringo Starr with George Martin not yet introduced. Also on the B- side of this single ( PS I Love You) he is - instead of Ringo Starr - listen. From Love Me Do recording with Ringo Starr and recording with Andy White were published that differ only slightly.

In the following years, Andy White played among others, Herman 's Hermits and Tom Jones. He also accompanied a tour with Marlene Dietrich.

Today, White lives in the U.S. (New Jersey), where he freelanced as a drum teacher.
