Andøya Rocket Range

Andøya Rakettskytefelt is the name of a rocket launch site on the northern Norwegian island Andøya. The first rocket launch took place on 18 August 1962. Under the project name Ferdinand 1, a Nike -Cajun rocket reached an altitude of 100 km. Since then, more than 700 sounding rockets were launched from there. The highest peak height was 1460 km and was on 18 January 2008 by a Black Brant 12 NASA achieved.

The rocket launch site Andøya was chosen as the start of the experimental body SHEFEX I and II SHEFEX by the German Aerospace Center (DLR ) as part of its program SHEFEX.
