Aneka

Aneka ( born November 20, 1954 Mary Sandeman actually ) is a Scottish folk singer. Many of her songs are sung in Gaelic.

1981 Single Japanese Boy and the eponymous album was released under the pseudonym Aneka. It reached high in the charts throughout Europe and was number one among others in the UK and Northern Ireland, Switzerland and Belgium. With Little Lady was followed by a hit that brought it all the same in Austria and Germany still in the top 10. Two years later, with Ooh Shooby Doo Doo Lang still a minor hit, but Aneka was able to establish itself in the pop business that's not. Other well-known songs were Anekas for example Heart to beat, Starshine, I Was Free and Come Back to Me and It'll Be All Right.

The first and only LP by Aneka was successful in Belgium, England, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany. Neil Ross was instrumental in the production, the songs were written by Bobby Heatlie.

Today, Mary Sandeman again concentrated on Scottish folk.
