Anemonin is an alkaloid contained in Ranunculaceae, such as the Pasque Flower (Pulsatilla ).
It takes its name from the name of the anemone (also called Anemone ), where it was first discovered by Heyer. It is a conversion product of the toxic Protoanemonins and has a lactone structure (more specifically, it is the dilactone of 1,2 - dioxy - cyclobutane -di- β -acrylic acid). It has antispasmodic, analgesic properties and is antibiotic effect. From protoanemonin it is formed next to Anemonsäure on contact with air or water through dimerization. Anemonin is associated with Bee poisoning due to certain Hahnenfußpollen known ( bed Lacher Maik Rank slope).
