AN/FPS-35

The AN/FPS-35 is a military air surveillance radar of Sperry. The first unit was delivered in 1960 and rebuilt in Thomasville (Alabama ) until 1962, then followed by other four devices. A total of 12 units have been built and put into service.

The radar instrument was built in fünfetagigen stationary concrete towers. Due to the enormous mass of the antenna of over 80 tons significant problems have arisen during operation. The drive of the antenna filled from a separate floor and was accomplished by six electric motors with 100 hp.

With the exception of standing in Montauk, New York in Camp Hero State Park device, all other radars have now been dismantled.
