Ángel Bracho

Ángel Bracho ( born February 14, 1911 in Mexico City; † February 1, 2005 ) was a Mexican artist.

Life

First, in evening classes, he studied from 1929 drawing and painting at the Academia de San Carlos at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ( UNAM). In 1934 he founded with other artists the Liga de Artistas y Escritores Revolucionarios ( League of Revolutionary Writers and Artists, LEAR ). Between 1936 and 1939 he worked as an art teacher and traveled to various parts of Mexico, including Oaxaca, Sinaloa, Nayarit and Baja California.

In 1937 he founded, together with Alberto Beltrán, Leopoldo Méndez, Raúl Anguiano and other artists, the Taller de Grafica Popular ( Workshop of the People graphic artist, TGP ). From 1952 to 1953 he was director from 1961 to 1963 and president of this association. His works have been exhibited internationally. In 1960 Bracho received the Gold Medal of the Biennial in Buenos Aires. 1979 was recognized in Michoacán his life's work with an exhibition.
