Angel Dust is one of the most successful albums of the rock band Faith No More.

On Angel Dust Mike Patton was the first time heavily involved in the songwriting. In contrast, guitarist Jim Martin restrained rapidly, because he was unhappy with the musical development of the band. Supposedly, bassist Billy Gould took over even a portion of the guitar parts on Angel Dust. Consequence of this development was the sacking of Jim Martin and a change in direction of the band.

For the first time weighed on Faith No More, a certain pressure in the production of an album, as the predecessor The Real Thing had become a great success worldwide. The band responded defiantly to the commercial expectations and expanded her musical range considerably and combined this styles like metal, funk, country, film music and other genres. Singer Mike Patton came up with some of his lyrics also. So he led, for example, by a sleep deprivation experiment, which inspired him to write the song Caffeine. For the text to Land of Sunshine Patton combined questions from a Scientology book with sayings from Chinese fortune cookies.

In the Country ballad RV ( recreational vehicle ) Mike Patton sings of the life of the White Trash in the U.S.; Crack Hitler describes the despotic behavior of a crack dealer; in Be Aggressive, a Fellatiobeschreibung, calls on a cheerleading squad to aggressive behavior while dealing Midlife Crisis, Everything's Ruined and kindergarten with specific problems of human life phases.
