Angela Chalmers

Angela Chalmers ( born September 6, 1963 in Brandon ) is a former Canadian middle and long distance runner.

In 1987 she took at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis the silver medal in the 3000 -meter run. In 1990, she won at the Commonwealth Games in Auckland in both the 1500 -meter run as well as over 3000 m.

The greatest success of her career, she celebrated at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. About 3000 meters, she won the bronze medal in 8:47,22 minutes behind Yelena Romanova and Tetjana Dorowskych from the United team.

At the Commonwealth Games in 1994 in Victoria Chalmers was flag bearer of their country. In the 3000 -meter run, she managed to defend their title. She won by a wide margin in Canadian national record time of 8:32,17 min.

In addition, she was a total of five times Canadian champion, four times in the 1500 -meter run (1989-1990, 1993-1994) and once in the 3000 -meter run (1994).
