Angela Morley

Angela Morley ( born March 10, 1924 in Leeds as Walter Stott, † January 14, 2009 in Scottsdale, Arizona) was a British composer and conductor. She wrote music under the artist name of Walter Scott or Wally Stott.

Life

Morley was a transsexual woman and was born as Walter ( Wally) Stott. In 1972, she underwent gender reassignment surgery. Their successful entry-level musical work is largely due to the influence and support from the Canadian composer Robert Farnon. In the later period of her life she lived in Scottsdale, Arizona and was honored for her musical work with three Emmy Awards. In addition, she was nominated twice for an Oscar.

Angela Morley died on 14 January 2009, caused by a fall complications and the consequences of a subsequent heart attack. She was 84 years old.

Works

Angela Morley was originally a composer of popular music. One of her most famous works is Rotten Row. Also notable is A Canadian in Mayfair, a tribute to Robert Farnons Portrait of a flirt. Morley became known beyond the film music, including to Watership Down, 1978; Captain Nemo, 1969; Music of different parts of the series Dynasty, The Colbys, Dallas, Falcon Crest and Hotel.
