Angel Castle is a municipality in the western part of the Marburg -Biedenkopf in northwestern central Hesse.

Geography

Geographical Location

The municipality is located about 12 km south of Biedenkopf in Gansbachtal north of L'Escaut forest, whose northern end through the mountain Angelburg (609 m above sea level. NN ) is formed.

Neighboring communities

The community is surrounded to the north and east by the municipality of Steff. The territory of the municipality of Bad Endbach borders also the east with the district Bottenhorn. In the south, the municipality abuts the community Siegbach, and in the west on the community of Eschenburg (both in the Lahn -Dill -Kreis).

History

On April 1, 1972, the two formerly independent municipalities Naughty Hausen and Lixfeld were merged to form the new municipality Angelburg. On July 1, was established in 1974 patrons.

Policy

The community is a member of the inter-municipal association Lahn- Dill-Bergland and many other utility companies and associations. In the election on March 27, 2011 were Thomas Beck ( SPD), Reiner Haffer and Heiko Valentin ( both independent) to. None of the candidates could win an absolute majority, so it came to the run-off election on 10 April 2011. There, Thomas Beck continued with 55.4 % against Reiner by Haffer ( 44.6 %). Coat of arms

The coat of arms shows the divided shield above, in blue, of the silver ( white) and red split Hessian lion; below in silver three red stars.

The lion refers to the early Hessian state sovereignty, the three stars represent the three districts of the municipality.

On the Angelburg is the 171 -meter high TV tower Angelburg. It is interesting that the Angelburg is not on Angelburger district, but belongs to the neighboring community of Eschenburg.

Personalities who have worked and lived in Angelburg

  • Heinrich Teutsch " patriarch " (1889-1967), machinist, self-taught, mineralogist, operator of the former ore mine in patrons ( galena ) in the one-man operation.
  • Jakob Müller (1869-1930), bricklayer, founder of the construction company of the same name.
