Angelika Bahmann

Angelika Bahmann ( born April 1, 1952 in Plauen) is a former German canoeist and current trainer. She was Olympic champion and world champion in canoe slalom.

At the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, she won for the GDR gold medal in the one - kayak of women and thus became the first Olympic champion in this discipline. In the course of her career, she won three titles at the world championships: 1971 in Merano in individual and team competition, and in 1977 in Spittal in singles. In addition, she won with the team in 1975 and 1977 World Championship silver in 1975 and took bronze in singles. Angelika Bahmann competed for the SC DHfK Leipzig, won four times in the GDR championships in individual ( 1970-1972.1976 ) and multiply with the team.

Angelika Bahmann is the mother of Christian Bahmann (* 1981 ), which was 2005 World Champion in slalom canoe - two Canadians (C2). She is now employed as a physiotherapist in Plauen and supervised in summer 2008, the Chinese Canoe Slalom Team at the Olympic Summer Games in Beijing as a technical trainer.
