Angelika Volquartz

Angelika Volquartz ( born September 2, 1946 in Uelzen ) is a German politician of the CDU. She was from 2003 to 2009 Mayor of the Schleswig-Holstein state capital Kiel.

After graduation, she completed a science teacher training program at the Christian -Albrechts -University of Kiel and then worked as a teacher at several high schools in Kiel. From 1985 to 1992 she was head of the Freiherr- vom- Stein-Schule in Kiel- Elmschenhagen.

Since 1978 Angelika Volquartz is a member of the CDU. From 1993 to 2003 she was chairman of the CDU district association Kiel. She is a member of the State Executive Committee of the Schleswig-Holstein CDU and belongs since 2000 to the CDU Federal Board.

From 1990 to 1992 she was a member of the Kiel council. Since 1992 she was a member of the Landtag of Schleswig -Holstein, until she was elected to the German Bundestag in 1998. She was there one of the few MPs who fully released their income. Your seat in the Bundestag she resigned after the election for Mayor.
