Angelit
Angelite is a Finnish women's duo, which comes from the village Angeli. The style of the duo takes on elements of traditional Sami folklore and includes, but Joik singing.
History
In 1982, Eino Ukkonen, a Finnish teacher, the two sisters Ursula and Tuuni Länsman and four other boys and girls with a Sámi festival in Utsjoki, where they performed as a singing group. That was the birth of Angelit. 1987, the group released a first non - commercial tape of Christmas carols, which had been recorded with Mari Boine. Died in 1989 one of the members in a car accident and the band split.
Only the two Länsman sisters remained and called themselves now " Angelin tytöt " or " ANNEL nieiddat " (Eng. girl of Angeli ). In 1992, she published her first album Dolla (German Fire ), followed by Giitu (Eng. thank you), to which even Alfred Häkkinen was involved.
1994, there was a first collaboration with Waltari for the title track of the album So Fine! . On the subsequent tour, they performed together - even with additional pieces - on. In 1995, she was with the song Jänkhä on the album Big Bang; then there was a joint tour and since then several joint appearances. Also in 1995 the third album Skeaikit appeared (Eng. laughter).
In 1997, the band renamed itself " Angelite " ( engl. the Angelis ).
In 1998 Angelit Waltari and recorded the first full album together, which, however, only in 2000 as Waltari Angelit: Channel Nordica came out. For 1998's album Alankomaat the Dutch group Nits wore Angelit at some Joik samples.
In 1999, Angelit their fourth album Mannu (Eng. moon) on the market. Mannu differed from previous albums in that traditional Sami music were mixed with modern dance beats. There were also three new band members: Samuli Kosminen, Mamba Assefa and Kimmo Kajasto.
The so far last album Reasons appeared in 2003.

Angeli is located in the municipality of Inari in northern Finland and is one of the few purely Sámi villages in Lapland, the northern part of Scandinavia. The entire population of Angeli consists of native seeds. They earn their living traditionally in the breeding of reindeer. The nearest supermarket is 70 km away.
