The Angelo River is a river in the north-west of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is located in the Pilbara region.

Geography

The river rises on the southwest slopes of the Ophthalmia Range and flows first to the southwest. In the settlement Turee Creek he turns his course to the west. The Angelo River Mine and the Angelo River Prospect, a uranium deposit, located on the river. North of Mount Boggola and Mount Bresnahan joins the Angelo River in the Ashburton River.

History

The river was named in 1887 by Robert McPhee, a prospector in the area, according to Colonel Fox Angelo, a government official in Roebourne and nachmaligem Superintendent of Rottnest Iceland.

The aboriginal tribes of Ngarlawongga and Banjima have dreamtime songs about the origin of the black Flussgoannas that should have originated in this river. The Schwarzkopf Python ( Aspidites melanocephalus ) to have originated in the creek Indabiddy Creek.
