Angelos Basinas

Angelos Basinas (Greek Άγγελος Μπασινάς, born January 3, 1976 in Chalkida ) is a former Greek football player, the captain of the Greek national team and in 2004 won the European Championship with Greece.

Club career

At the age of twelve years Angelos Basinas joined the youth academies of Panathinaikos Athens. In 1995, he signed a professional contract with the same club and remained there until September 2005. Basinas was captain of the Greek national team and led selbige by the 2008 European Football Championship in Austria and Switzerland. There he ran in all three games on as captain, but could not prevent the disappointing departure of the Greeks.
