Angels with Dirty Faces ( German: Angels with Dirty Faces ) is the second studio album by British girl group Sugababes. It was released on 26 August 2002 in the UK and on 16 September of the same year in Germany. It is the first album of the second line-up consisting of Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Heidi Range, as well as the first album under the new label Iceland Records. In the UK, the album was triple platinum and is still the best selling album of the band.

Background information

During a promotional tour in Japan, the founding member Siobhán Donaghy announced their departure from the band. This was due to internal squabbles. It was replaced shortly thereafter by ex- Atomic Kitten member Heidi Range. Although the Sugababes have been fired from her first label London Records, they began briefly on writing new songs for their second album. A little later she signed a recording contract with Iceland Records.

The second album was evaluated by both the fans and the critics consistently positive.

The album received in the UK triple platinum, and gold in Switzerland. In addition, the album went platinum in Europe, as it had everywhere more than one million copies.

Singles

From album four singles emerged. As a pre-release single Freak Like Me was released. This is a mashup of the same songs by Adina Howard ( text ) and the play Are Friends Electric? by Gary Numan and Tubeway Army ( melody). The song was the first number - one single by Sugababes in the UK. It is also one of the most selling singles of the band and was honored in the UK with silver. The second single, Round Round, also reached number 1 on the UK charts and was there awarded silver. The song is part of the soundtrack of the film The Guru. In Germany the song reached number 15, while in Austria and Switzerland even reached the top 10 ( ranked 8th and 4).

The third single was the double A - side Stronger / Angels with Dirty Faces. It reached # 7 on the UK charts, however, was not as successful in other countries. So the song only reached number 38 in Germany and number 41 in Austria and # 23 in Switzerland.

As a last single shape was published, part cover of the song Shape of My Heart by Sting, who also contributed backing vocals. In the UK, the song reached number 11 in Germany, the best result was 39th place in Austria and Switzerland 50th place 40th place
