Anghiari

Anghiari is a town with 5650 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Arezzo. The city is a member of Cittaslow, a company incorporated in Italy in 1999 motion to decelerate and increase the quality of life in cities.

Geography

The municipality covers 130 km ². It lies about 20 km east of Arezzo and 80 km southeast of Florence.

The districts include Carboncione, Catigliano, Motina, Ponte alla Piera, San Leo, Scheggia, Tavernelle and Viaio.

The neighboring municipalities are Arezzo, Caprese Michelangelo, Citerna (PG), Monterchi, Pieve Santo Stefano, Sansepolcro and Subbiano.

History

On June 29, 1440 Battle of Anghiari between Florence and Milan, took place.
