The Anglia Ruskin University, formerly Anglia Polytechnic University, is a British university with a campus in Chelmsford, Cambridge and Peterborough. 28,000 students studying at the University.

History

The Anglia Ruskin University has its origins in an art school in Cambridge, which was founded in 1858 by John Ruskin, and a college that was founded in 1904 in Chelmsford. These two schools were united in 1989 Anglia Higher Education College. In 1991 it became the Anglia Polytechnic, a kind of university. The rank of a university, she was awarded in 1992 and the name changed to Anglia Polytechnic University.

The word polytechnic was retained in the name to show their pride in the history of the university. 2000 was the first attempt to change the name after a former director at Anglia University Prior rejected. On 29 September 2005, the name of two hundred proposals were amended with approval of the Privy Council, in Anglia Ruskin University.
