Anglo-Catholicism

Anglo - Catholicism ( also known as the High Church or Puseyism ) is a movement within the Church of England, the Catholic Anglicanism, ie sacramentally and interpreted in break timeless traditions with the old church. This includes the Catholic Eucharist and understanding of office and becomes visible in an appropriate liturgical form. During the 19th century a group of clergy broke at the University of Oxford, a movement which sought a return to the Catholic elements of the Anglican Church (cf. Edward Bouverie Pusey ).

His greatest importance was the Anglo - Catholicism in the mid- 19th century. After the conversion of John Henry Newman and other Anglo - Catholics to the Roman Catholic Church, his influence declined, but remained in effect until today.

The counterpart to the Anglo - Catholicism is the Low Church, which represents strictly Protestant- Calvinist positions.
