Course of the Angren ( Ахангаран )

The Angren ( Uzbekistan Angren; Tajik Оҳангарон ( Ohangaron ); Russian Ангрен, Ахангаран ( Achangaran ) ) is a right tributary of the Syr Darya in Uzbekistan.

The Angren arises at the confluence of Aktaschsaja and Urtalyksaja in the province of Namangan on the southeast flank of the Chatkal Mountains in western Tianshan. It flows in the upper reaches in a southwesterly direction to the Tashkent Province. He flows through a gorge which cuts through the plateau of Angren ( Ангренское плато ). The valley widens later. Here the river is dammed to Achangaran reservoir. Downstream are the cities of Angren and Ohangaron. In the lower reaches of the Angren flows through the Tjuijabugus Reservoir, takes the Karasu on and finally ends after 223 km on the right side in the Syr Darya. The Angren drains an area of 5260 km ². The largest outflows reached the Angren during snowmelt in the month of May.
