Angus Macintyre

Angus John Macintyre is a British mathematical logician who occupied himself not only logic and model theory with algebra and combinatorics.

Macintyre received his doctorate in 1968 at Stanford University in Dana Scott ( Classifying pairs of real closed fields ). In the 1970s he was a professor at Yale University, in the early 1990s at Oxford University and later at the University of Edinburgh and is currently at Queen Mary College, University of London.

In 1993 he was Godel Lecturer ( Logic of Real and p- adic Analysis: Achievements and Challenges ).

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society since 1993 and received the 2003 Pólya Prize of the London Mathematical Society. In 1998 he held the Tarski Lectures at Berkeley.

He is married to the mathematician Beatrice Pelloni.
