Angus Strathie

Angus Strathie is an Australian costume designer, who twice the AACTA Award, the British Academy Film Award won for best costumes and a Golden Satellite Award among others, an Oscar for Best Costume Design.

Life

Strathie began his career as a costume designer in the film industry in 1992 at the dance film Strictly Ballroom - The breaking all the rules of dance Baz Luhrmann with Paul Mercurio, Tara Morice and Bill Hunter. For this debut work, he won the 1993 British Academy Film Award for the best costumes ( BAFTA Film Award ) and his first AFI Award also mentioned AACTA Award from the Australian Film Institute for Best Costume Design.

At the Academy Awards in 2002 he won with Catherine Martin the Oscar for Best Costume Design for the musical film Moulin Rouge ( 2001), which was also directed by Baz Luhrmann with Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor and John Leguizamo. He also won and Catherine Martin the AACTA Award for Best Costume Design and the Golden Satellite Award for Best Costume Design. At the same time both were for the BAFTA Film Award, nominated the Saturn Award for the best costume and the price of the Phoenix Film Critics Society ( PFCS Award) for Best Costume Design.

In 2003 he received a nomination for the AACTA Award for Best Costume Design in filmed under the title Against the Current (2003 ) Life history of the Australian swimming idol Tony Fingleton, the staged Russell Mulcahy with Geoffrey Rush, Judy Davis and Jesse Spencer. In addition, he and Catherine Martin received a 2003 nomination for a Tony Award for the best costumes in the performance of Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème on Broadway.

In 2008 he received together with Sandra J. Blackie a Leo Award for Best Costume Design in a TV show and the Award of Excellence at the Accolade Competion for the costume design in the produced by RHI Entertainment miniseries Tin Man - the fight for the emerald of light ( 2007) with Zooey Deschanel, Neal McDonough and Alan Cumming. In addition, both in 2008 were nominated for an Emmy for outstanding costumes in the first episode, titled Night 1.

In 2010 he was nominated for a Leo Award for Best Costume Design, and indeed for the miniseries Alice (2009) with Caterina Scorsone, Andrew Lee Potts and Matt Frewer. He is currently working at the facilities of television films like Ragz and Big Time Movie which will be aired in 2012.
