Angy

Angy is a commune with 1195 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Oise in the Picardie region. It belongs to the district Clermont, to Canton Mouy and community association Pays de Thelle.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the right bank of Angy Thérain, about halfway between the cities of Senlis and Beauvais. The heavily forested Thérain valley is wide at the level Angy up to 1,000 m. Northeast of Thérain the terrain of the municipality rises in terraces down to a plateau 126 meters above sea level achieved. The plateau is interrupted by three dry valleys, of which the valleys cut into the rear of the Gorguets and Fopnd de Lancon up to 50 m deep in the countryside.

Neighboring communities of Angy are Thury -sous -Clermont in the north, Ansacq in the northeast, Bury in the southeast, as well as Mouy Hondainville in the west and northwest.

History

The town grew around the church in the 11th century near a source that should cure the legend eye diseases. The church is a striking example of the transition from Romanesque to Gothic style. 1140 appeared the place was first documented as angio on. In 1186 he was Angum called Angiacum 1207.
