Anka Grupińska

Anna Grupińska, born Jakubovska ( born November 9, 1956 in Koszalin ) is a Polish non-fiction writer, journalist and publicist.

Life and work

After high school (Polish Matura), she studied English at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and then was from 1981 to 1982 as a teacher of the English language in a high school (Polish Liceum ) employed in Poznan. After discharge, she was 1982-1984 as a lecturer of English in a library in Krotoszyn and 1984-1984 they were only tutoring without a permanent position. In September 1980, she joined the trade union Solidarity and in 1983 she was a co-founder of the Solidarity department in Poznan, founder of the magazine Czas Kultury illegal and peddled magazines such Czas, Czas Kultury and veto.

They held discussions with the survivors of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising - appeared in 1985 in the journal Czas her interview with Marek Edelman, one of the leaders of the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto. In years 1988-1989, she traveled to Israel and documented the experiences of eyewitnesses of the Holocaust. In 1999, in Warsaw, her book was published about the location and fate of Hasidic women in Israel. She was one of the signatories of the letter to the Ukrainian society ( List do społeczeństwa ukraińskiego ) of 25 October 2004. In her writings, she devoted herself to the memory of the fighters of the Jewish Combat Organization and the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

In the years 1990-1994 she was sent as a cultural attaché of the Polish Embassy in Tel Aviv- Jaffa. In 2008, she was awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta ( Ritter).
