Ankaraspor A.Åž.

Ankaraspor (until 2005 still Buyuksehyr Ankara Spor Kulübü Belediyesi ) (Eng. Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club) is a Turkish sports club. It was founded in 1978 in Ankara. Ankaraspor denies its home games in Yenikent - ASAS Stadium which has a capacity for 19,626 spectators. The club currently has 96,000 members.

Name Change

As Ankara Belediyespor the club was founded in 1978. After six years, he was called Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyespor. 1998, there was a renewed change of name; this time was the name Büyükşehir Belediye Ankaraspor and since 2005, the association acts as Ankaraspor. With the recent name change was accompanied by a concentration on football. The existing departments, badminton, basketball, boxing, hockey, weightlifting, handball, judo, rowing, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis were spun in a club that continues the old name Büyükşehir Belediye Ankaraspor Kulübü.

Relegation to the second league

Ankaraspor was required in 2009 due to a penalty of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF ) in the Bank Asya 1 Lig, the second Turkish league, descend, as they have violated some association rules. Before the start of season 2009/10 Ankaraspor wanted to enter into a merger with city rivals MKE Ankaragucu; this was prevented by the Turkish Football Federation with an urgent decision. As a result, the previous head of sport Ankaraspor and son of the mayor Melih Gökçek, Ahmet Gökçek, was elected President of MKE Ankaragucu and five players move in a short time to MKE Ankaragucu. In order to avoid a distortion of competition between the two clubs, the association Ankaraspor opted for the 2009/10 season excluded. The license of the club was withdrawn on August 4, 2010 by the Turkish Football Federation ( TFF). Thus, the association can not pursue any more sporting activities. All remaining games counted with a 0-3 defeat.

Return to the TFF 1 Lig

The association procured by the League exclusion by court order to participate in the Süper Lig or at the TFF 1 Lig Since after the expulsion from the league all professionals are not sufficient crew for the seasons 2011/12 and 2012/13 were released and had available was abandoned despite notice to a later game participation. The reserve team Ankaraspor that Ankaraspor A2 A2 Ligi 2012/13 ended with the championship of the league. In the season 2013/14 Ankaraspor announced again to participate in the operation of the game Süper Lig, the highest Turkish football league at. In the negotiations which followed this refusal, the two sides agreed to participate in the game operation of the TFF 1 Lig, the second Turkish football league.
