Anke Karstens

Anke Karstens (born 13 October 1985 in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria ) is a German snowboard athlete. They will start for the WSV Bishop meadows.

2007 Anke Karstens German Champion in Parallel Slalom (PSL ) and runner-up in the parallel giant slalom (PGS ). With Isabella Laböck, Amelie Kober and Selina Joerg it belongs in the winter of 2007/ 08 the German World Cup team.

Karstens began in 1997 with the sport of snowboarding, inspired by her brother. In 2001 she first participated in a German Championship, was in Berchtesgaden ( Götschen ) 26 in the PSL and 33 PGS. The following year, she started for the first time in FIS races. In 2003, she first participated at the Junior World Championships and won a few weeks later her first junior race in Pec pod Snezkou. 2004 saw his second appearance at the Junior World Championships ( in Klinovec ), where she won fifth place in the PSL. At the German Championships, she finished second in this year's second place in the PGS, a success they could repeat in 2006. In the season 2006/ 07 she won a few times leading racecourses, and was overall seventh in the European Cup before it was in Kaunertal before Isabella Laböck German PSL champion on 1 April 2007; PGS they only had to concede defeat Pink Czipf.

After mixed results in late 2007, she surprised January 9, 2008 with a second place at the World Cup race in Bad Gastein. On March 15, 2008, she celebrated her first World Cup victory in Valmalenco in parallel slalom before Michelle Gorgone and Claudia Riegler of Austria. In December 2008, she reached her initial final podium in Limone Piemonte. On the next platform they must wait three years before they can re- enter a third place in the slalom in December 2011 in Italy in Carezza. On 21 December 2012 she was again in Carezza successfully, this time in the giant slalom.

On February 22, 2014, it won the silver medal in the parallel slalom at the Olympic Games in Sochi.

Anke Karstens lives in Berchtesgaden. It has 2010 successfully completed their training to the police champion in Bad Endorf.
