Anker Eli Petersen

Anker Eli Petersen ( born June 7, 1959 in Tvøroyri, Faroe Islands ) is a Faroese graphic designer, Stamp designer and author.

Many of the stamps of the Postverk Føroya come from anchor Elis Hand ( is in this form his name on the stamps ). Anker Eli uses the technique of collage and computer graphics. His motives are often historical in nature. The newer Faroese Stamps on Nordic mythology are of him. His major artistic influences are William Heinesen and Elinborg Lützen.

Anker Eli also works as a web designer for the Faroese postal service and there designed complicated pages in multiple languages.

A. E. translated as author Petersen old texts from the Old Norse, writes children's songs and lyrics for other Faroese musicians. In addition, he has illustrated many books.

His children's song Á ferd til dreymalands ( On the journey to dreamland ) is one of the most popular Faroese children's songs and was set to music in 1990 by Terji Rasmussen. It was last performed live by Eivør Pálsdóttir, Lena Anderssen and Gudrun Solja Jacobsen, 2006 in Tórshavn. Was also set to music by Rasmussen Terji the song Ljóðsmynd ( According to painting), which was voted Faroese song of the 20th century. The melancholy song tells of random environmental noise and emerged after Petersen's statement as " could not think " it. Both songs are on the modern classic Terji above Føstufressar, is considered the first professional rock-pop album of the Faroese music history.
