The Ankobra is a river in Ghana, West Africa. The name was supposedly given to him because of its tortuous course of the Portuguese, who arrived at the end of the 15th century in his mouth area and be derived from cobra, which is the Portuguese word for " snake".

It rises north-east of Wiawso, capital of Sefwi - Wiawso District, and flows more than 190 miles to the south at Axim in the Gulf of Guinea. It reaches its greatest extent in southern Ghana.
