Ankuwa

Ankuwa altassyr. Amkuwa, as referred Hanikkuil ( KBO 10:24 reverse), Ünal wants this with the Hatti Ḫanniku (wa) equate. Ankuwa was a Hittite city in Central Anatolia. It was probably south of Zippalanda. Between Zippalanda and Ankuwa solemn processions took place, which were probably connected with the cult of the god Taha.

Ankuwa was the administrative center for the worship of the goddess Kattaḫa ( heth. queen) or dHannikkun. It is often mentioned in the contract texts, often together with the weather god of Zippalanda. After an ancient Assyrian text from Kültepe Amkuwa was at times (maybe Šanahuita ) allied with Sinḫuttum and Kapitra and rebelled against Hatti.

The city's location is disputed. RL Gorny she wants alisar Höyük equate M. Popko with Eskiyapar, 10 km southeast of Alaca Höyük.
