Ann Mallalieu, Baroness Mallalieu

Ann Mallalieu, Baroness Mallalieu QC ( born November 27, 1945) is a British lawyer, Labour politician and president of the Countryside Alliance.

Lady Mallalieu comes from a powerful political family. Her grandfather was a member of the constituency Colne Valley for the Liberal Party in the House of Commons. He was succeeded by her uncle Lance Mallalieu, who was Labour MP for Brigg later. Her father was Joseph Mallalieu Labourabgeordneterfür Huddersfield East.

She studied at Newnham College ( Cambridge ), where she was the first female president of the Cambridge Union Society.

1991 Mallalieu was raised as Baroness Mallalieu for Life Peeress. She married Timothy Cassel, but was later divorced again. They have two grown daughters.

In 2004, she supported leading the House of Lords opposition to the ban on hunting with dogs.

She is a member of Exmoor and Somerset Staghounds Hunt and Devon.
