Anna Bessonova

Hanna Wolodymyriwna Bessonova (Ukrainian Ганна Володимирівна Безсонова; Russian Анна Владимировна Бессонова / Anna Vladimirovna Bessonova, born July 29, 1984 in Kiev) is a Ukrainian Einzelgymnastin.

Career

Her father Volodymyr Bessonov is a former football player from Dynamo Kiev, he was 79 -fold national team of the Soviet Union and has worked as a football coach; her mother, Victoria ( born Serikh ) was two times world champion of rhythmic gymnastics with the group. Anna started with 5 years of rhythmic gymnastics. Her mother wanted a ballet dancer Anna is, but Anna wanted to be a gymnast.

She trains with Irina and Albina Deriugina in Deriugina School in Kiev. At a young age she had great success, first with the group and then in individual areas. Their first single placement with an international championship was the fourth place with the band at the European Championships 2000. 2001 at the World Championships in Madrid, she won the individual all-around bronze medal and added a silver with the tire and the ball, and bronze with the rope. At the European Championships 2002, she also won the bronze medal in the all around, this came with the rope silver and bronze with clubs. Bessonova won the end of 2002 at the World Cup in Stuttgart three devices and finished with the ball to second place.

In 2003, she won at the European Championships in Riesa three gold medals with ribbon, clubs and tires in the 2003 World Cup in Budapest she won with tires and clubs and got silver in the all around, with the team and with ball and ribbon. In 2004 she was at the European Championships in her hometown of Kiev second in the all around. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, she finished third with a total of 106,700 points ( 26,725 band, club 26.950, Ball 26.525, 26.500 tires ) behind the two Russians Alina Kabaeva and Irina Tchachina.

In the coming years Hanna Bessonova won at European Championships and World Championships medals in the all around and in the individual disciplines, but only in 2007 they again won a title: In the 2007 World Championships in Patras she won the all-around. A year later at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, she received a total of 71.875 points again the bronze medal; while the Russian Evgenia Kanaeva winner had about three and a half points ahead, Bessonova was only 0.05 points behind the Belarusian Ina Schukawa. A year later she won at the World Championships in Mie third place in the all around.
