Anna Boulygina

Anna Alexeyevna Bulygina (Russian Анна Алексеевна Булыгина; born January 11, 1984 in Salechard, Tyumen Oblast ) is a Russian biathlete.

The Russian Anna Bulygina was a very successful junior athlete. At the Junior World Championships in 2002, 2003 and 2005, the policewoman was twice world champion in the relay (2003 and 2005) and in the pursuit ( 2005). Added to Vice World Champion title in all three sprint competitions the Junior World Championships, plus a victory in the sprint and a third place in the pursuit at the Junior European Championships in 2005 in Novosibirsk. Bulygina debuted due to injuries and pregnancies of several other athletes in the Russian biathlon team at the Junior World Biathlon European Cup in season 2005/06. In Novosibirsk, she won the sprint race and was third in the pursuit. Then she ran several races in the Biathlon European Cup without significant results can be obtained. In the Biathlon World Cup, she made her debut at the first World Cup of the season 2006/07. Already in the first race they could penetrate into the world top and finished ninth. With the Russian squadron Bulygina was second in Hochfilzen. In the Biathlon World Championships 2007 in Antholz the Russian was used in two races. In the sprint she reached the 19th place in the pursuit they lost 10 placements. For the season finale in Khanty-Mansiysk Bulygina reached the final mass start race in fourth their best finish of the season. She finished the season on the 31 place overall. In the following season Bulygina was not used in the World Cup. Here she was able to start in the 2008 /09 season again. In Antholz Bulygina repeated her until then best finish, the fourth in a sprint. The following steeplechase won the Russian surprisingly the final sprint against Kaisa Mäkäräinen and Darya Domratschawa. For several weeks before she won in Hochfilzen in the relay Russia's her first World Cup race, but the victory was denied later because of doping offenses other Russian gymnasts. It reached its greatest success by winning their first World Championship gold medal at the Biathlon World Championships 2009 in Pyeongchang, also in the relay competition.
