My work as a writer includes tragic novels and short stories that treat as a continuous theme fidelity in marriage, the need of women for work and maintenance and marital conflicts. Sometimes death and isolation are the only choice to be brought to the women of the society. The procedures described in the narratives views were criticized as brutal and naive. In 1893, he published Lena, en bok om fruntimmer (Lena, a book about women's room). It tells of the divorced Lena, who meets a sensual girlfriend ( wife Linder ). The book vividly describes how the conventional social life of that time looked like. In the novel Staden (1901 ) portrays the writer and friends Axel Wallengren and Emil Kleen, which often were guests of Branting in the 1890s.

Branting was married from 1877 to 1883 with Lieutenant Gustav Vilhelm of Kræmer and from 1884 with Hjalmar Branting.
