Anna Calvi

Anna Calvi ( * 1980 in Twickenham, London) is a British pop musician. Her father is from Italy.

Life and work

Anna Calvi met with six to play the violin and plays since the age of eight guitar, in the early 2000s, she studied music at the University of Southampton. Since 2006, she appears as a musician on: first with the band Cheap Hotel, and later as a solo artist. Anna Calvi was in the years 2009/2010 each tour support for Johnny Franklin, the Arctic Monkeys and Nick Cave. Bill Ryder -Jones, the lead guitarist of The Coral, mediated her 2010 record deal with Domino Records. Brian Eno was also a mentor of Anna Calvi.

Their first single, Jezebel Anna Calvi published in October 2010. The album Anna Calvi followed in January 2011. From album the pieces Blackout, Desire and Suzanne and I were released as singles. On their recordings and in their live performances Anna Calvi takes over the singing and guitar playing. Their style of music can be dark with the adjectives, romantic, elegiac, sultry and seductive describe. In October 2013, the second album, One Breath, which is intended to be more intimate than its predecessor appeared. This was preceded by the single release in August 2013 Eliza as a download or 7 " vinyl single advance.
