Anna DeForge
Anna Louise DeForge ( born April 14, 1976 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, United States) is a professional basketball player. She currently plays for the Minnesota Lynx in the Women's National Basketball Association. Until August 4, 2008, she also played for Wisla Krakow in Polish PLKK and won with the team three times the championship.
Career
College
Anna DeForge played until 1998 for the women's basketball team at the University of Nebraska. She is the first player from the University of Nebraska, made the jump to the WNBA.
American Basketball League
After college, DeForge first played in the American Basketball League for the San Jose Lasers. However, the league was re-dissolved in the same year.
Women's National Basketball Association
De Forge was never selected by a team in a WNBA Draft. The 2000 season was their first season in the WNBA. This season she played for the Detroit Shock. This season, they scored an average of 5.4 points and 1.7 rebounds per game for the Shock. Furthermore, it was ten times in the starting lineup of the Shock. After this season DeForge left the WNBA, but returned in 2003 and played back to 2005 for the Phoenix Mercury. In the 2003 season she had with 11.9 points per game the best points average of all Mercury players. At the end of the season she was voted almost to the WNBA Most Improved Player, she got the third most votes of all players in the league. In the 2004 season, she was always in the starting lineup of Mercury. This season, they could improve their scores average to 14.4 points per game, so they had the second best average points of all Mercury players. Furthermore, they got 1152 minutes with the most playing time of the entire league. With 70 litters were transformed from 3-point range no player in the WNBA met so many litters of this area. Through these good performances, she was elected team to WNBA All-Star that ran against the U.S. Women's National Team. In the 2005 season she was back every time in the starting lineup of Mercury. This season she had with 13.1 points per game again the second best points average of all Mercury players.
On February 3, 2006, she was transferred to the Indiana Fever for Kelly Miller. In the 2006 season she was already in Phoenix as always in the starting lineup of the Fever. This season, she came to a points average of 10.2 points per game. In Indiana, she managed for the first time with a team made it into the playoffs. However, the Fever had to admit defeat already in the Conference Semifinals the Detroit Shock. In the 2007 season she led the Fever not only in the playoffs, she was voted into the starting lineup for the Eastern Conference All -Star team. In the playoffs, they had to deal with the Fever again defeated the Detroit shock, but this time only in the Conference Finals.
On February 19, 2008 en Forbe signed with the Minnesota Lynx.
