Anna Diamantopoulou

Diamantopoulou (Greek Άννα Διαμαντοπούλου, born February 26, 1959 in Kozani, Greece ) is a Greek politician of the PASOK.

Political career

Diamantopoulou was one of the youngest prefect in Greece, it was the prefecture of Kastoria 1984 until 1986. Thereafter, it was General Secretary of Adult Education and later for youth. She became President of the Greek organization of small and medium-sized businesses in 1993.

From 1996 to 1999 and from 2004 to May 2012, she was a member of the Greek Parliament.

From 1999 to 2004 she was European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities in the Prodi Commission. In March 2004, she gave up her position Stavros Dimas for the remainder of the term.

From October 2009 to March 2012 she was Minister for Education, Lifelong Learning and Religion.

Between March 2012 and May 2012 was Minister for Development, Competitiveness and Shipping ( Economy ).
