Anna Jean Ayres

Anna Jean Ayres ( * 1920, † 1989) was an American developmental psychologist.

After training and working as an occupational therapist, she studied psychology and placed her habilitation at the Institute for Brain Research at the University of California at Los Angeles ( UCLA).

As a therapist she has dealt with neurological abnormalities and developed the theory of sensory integration. This approach tries to explain different motor disorders due to incorrect processing of sensory information in the brain. For treating these disorders put it to the learning of basic processing mechanisms.

In 1976 she founded together with others Ayres Clinik in Torrance / USA treated the children and therapists are trained.
