Anna Lapushchenkova

Anna Alexandrovna Lapuschtschenkowa (Russian Анна Александровна Лапущенкова; born October 24, 1986 in Moscow) is a Russian tennis player.

Since October 2010 Lapuschtschenkowa has not played tennis.

Career

In October 2002, just before her sixteenth birthday, Lapuschtschenkowa got the opportunity to play for the first time on the ITF Tour. In 2005, she then played regularly on the ITF tour and made steady progress in the coming years. To the 300th place in the WTA rankings, she stood in 2007 and in January 2008 she was already on the 140th place ranking.

Although she has to struggle to qualify for the main draw of a WTA tournament, she has beaten several top 100 players in smaller tournaments and qualifying rounds for WTA tournaments.

2010

At the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart in 2010 Lapuschtschenkowa managed as 130th in the WTA rankings to jump over the qualifying into the main draw. In the second round she beat the world number 9 Wiktoryja Azarenka 6:3 and 6:3, defeated her greatest victory and the first time a top ten player until then. In the quarterfinals, she beat the 38th in the world rank list Lucie Šafářová with 7:61, 1:6 and 6:1. The semi-finals they lost despite a lead in the first sentence of 5:2 and 3:1 in the second set against Samantha Stosur 7-5, 6-3. This good performance brought her into the top 100 in the world ranking list on the 96th Place.

About the qualification Lapuschtschenkowa tried to jump into the main draw of the French Open for the first time. However, the Russian seeded # 2 lost in the first round of qualifying 7-5, 6-1.

At the Wimbledon Championships Lapuschtschenkowa was the first time directly in the main draw of a Grand Sam tournament. She lost her Erstrundenbegegnung against Tsvetana Pironkova 0:6, 6:77.

The last tournament so far won Lapuschtschenkowa in August 2010 in Kazan, the date last match on the professional tour, she contested the tournament in Moscow on 18 October 2010, where it failed in the first round of qualifying.
