Anna Netrebko

Anna Netrebko Yuryevna (Russian Анна Юрьевна Нетребко, scientific transliteration Anna Netrebko Jur'evna; born September 18, 1971 in Krasnodar, USSR) is a Russian, world-renowned opera singer in the vocal range soprano. Since 2006 she is also in possession of the Austrian citizenship.

Career as a singer

Anna Netrebko studied singing at the Rimsky- Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg. After winning the 1993 Glinka Vocal Competition in Moscow, it was established in 1994 engaged by the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. There, she made her debut in the same year as Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. This production subsequently guested on August 6, 1994, at the Schleswig- Holstein Music Festival (Director: Justus Frantz ) in Stade, Germany where therefore Netrebko's debut took place. Netrebko sang soon after at the major opera houses of the world, at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and at the Vienna State Opera, especially as Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni Gaetano Donizetti or as Adina in L' elisir d' amore. Since 1998 she performed regularly at the Salzburg Festival, where she worked as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt celebrated her international breakthrough in 2002. In the same year she made her debut at the Met as Natasha in the opera War and Peace by Sergei Prokofiev.

2003 Anna Netrebko sang the role of Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the title role in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor at the Los Angeles Opera, and again as Donna Anna at the Royal Opera House.

Family

Anna Netrebko is the daughter of an engineer and a geologist. In early summer 2007, she separated from her former partner, the baritone Simone Alberghini. From 2007 to 2013 Netrebko had a relationship with the Uruguayan bass-baritone Erwin Schrott. The two have a son Tiago (* 2008).

Citizenship

Resident has Netrebko in St. Petersburg, where she remains a member of the ensemble at the Mariinsky Theatre.
