Anna Rutgers van der Loeff

At Rutgers van der Loeff - Basenau ( born March 15, 1910 as Anneke Basenau in Amsterdam, † August 19 1990 in Laren ) was a Dutch writer.

Life

At Rutgers studied Latin and Greek in Amsterdam and began her professional career as a translator of Scandinavian authors, including by Sigrid Undset. After some articles she published in 1947 her first book.

At Rutgers became known primarily through their youth novels ( If you have courage ) and historic Art Books ( Children caravan ). For I am a contact Fedde shy youngsters from a children's home, trying to cope with the everyday difficulties of newly gained freedom after his 18th birthday, she received the 1977 German Youth Book Prize. By 1957 she had won it for the best non-fiction book ( pioneers and their grandchildren ). Four other works by An Rutgers were placed on the shortlist for the German Youth Book Prize. As one of the most important Dutch writer of the present day youth she was honored for her life's work with the Dutch State Prize for Children 's and Youth Literature.

At Rutgers van der Loeff died on 19 August 1990 at the age of 80 in North Holland.
