Anna University

The Anna University is a state university in Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the leading engineering colleges in India. The university specializes in the disciplines of engineering, science and technology.

History

The Anna University was founded in 1978 to unite various technical colleges in Chennai to a technical university. Among the oldest of these colleges as part of the 1794 founded the College of Engineering, Guindy. It was named after the politician Anna University CN Annadurai ( called Anna ).

Faculties and Institutions

The university is spread over 3 locations: the main campus of Anna University in the southern part of Chennai consists of the College of Engineering, Guindy, Alagappa College of Technology, the, and the School of Architecture and Planning. Furthermore, there is the campus of the Madras Institute of Technology, Chrompet and the campus in Taramani.
