Anna Verouli

Anna Verouli (Greek Άννα Βερούλη, born November 13, 1956 in Kavala ) is a former Greek javelin thrower.

Career

1981 surpassed Anna Verouli first time the 60 -meter mark. At the European Championships in 1982 in Athens was up to the fifth passage Antje Kempe from the GDR with 67.94 meters in the lead. Then Anna Verouli succeeded with 70.02 meters, a new personal best. She won gold before Kempe and her compatriot Sofia Sakorafa. The two medals were the only medals for the host nation at these European Championships.

A year later at the World Championships 1983 in Helsinki won with Tiina Lillak (FIN ) again a javelin thrower from the host country. Behind Fatima Whitbread (GBR ) finished Anna Verouli with 65.72 meters in third place and won the only medal for Greece at this World Cup.

Your Best Anna Verouli improved over 70.02 meters in 1982 and 70.90 meters in 1983 to 72.70 meters in 1984. At the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, she took 13th place in qualifying you tested positive for nandrolone in 1985 and had for doping ban pause. In 1986, she appeared again and was charged with 57.06 meters tenth at the European Championships in Stuttgart.
