Annan Athletic F.C.

Annan ( officially: Annan Athletic Football Club ) is a Scottish football club based in Annan, located in Dumfries and Galloway.

The club plays in the Third Division, the fourth- highest Scottish league. The club was after the bankruptcy of Gretna elected to the Scottish league system in 2008.

The place Annan, located in the extreme south of Scotland, is now represented in the league after more than 80 years. In the 1920s, the resident club Solway Star had played in the 3rd Division, which was dissolved in 1926.

A special feature in the club's history of Annan Athletic is that the Club is a quarter of a century ( 1952-1977 ) of Carlisle and District League belonged, thus played in England. After returning to the Scottish Football Athletic of the South of Scotland, later the East of Scotland League joined.
